But what if they’re friendly wasps?

They usually are if you don’t start flailing your arms. I usually feed them when they approach me while I’m eating. They don’t even have brains but they can still gauge someone’s threat level.

Sometimes we get these cute little things and I pick them up and let them hang around, but some people get freaked out by them and demand I get them out of the room. The ones that I think are more likely to sting humans, I’ll just catch and release outside.

We used to get cicada killers. They don’t bother humans, but it still looks like an aggressive 2-inch long missile set on your destruction.

For most people wasp=yellow jacket. And Yellow jackets are never frendly. Just sometimes “not outright aggressive”.

I like to ignore them and give them a chance to retreat in peace. If they fly to close to my face though, I will single strike, closed fist, punch them in the head (while flying, not mash them against the wall). It disorients them so much they just fly away. Never got stung while doing it, 100% success rate if I hit them.

Yep, most people are overreacting when they see a wasp, even though it isn’t aggressive in any way.

They all belong in hell, have to kill a dozen a day that keep getting into my house.

Hi my name is Michael with a b, and I’ve been afraid of insects my whole life
