No Stupid Questions

They give you either a link where you complete the census online or a physical booklet with all the questions present to collect data from the population. What happens if you continue disregarding the census in the US? When was the last census conducted on the entire country? Even then, is answering questions on the census mandatory for both citizens and tourists alike? Also, what are the repercussions for providing false answers?

I feel more drawn to almost anything except the books which teacher recommends me and every time, I rely on AI to summarize things for me and it is affecting me badly but I just cannot make myself read those books. Anything that feels necessary to me lose its importance in my sight and I try to avoid those things. Back in the days, I was doing undergrad with a different major but I did not get it and wanted to go to my current major. And now when I am in my current major (CS major, previously doing Electronics Engineering), I have lost interest in that field too. I have many books downloaded to read and many quizzes and exams to attempt but thing is I just don’t feel attracted to those books. Those books feel dry to me and boring as well.

Not a racist thing, I’m just very curious to hear what sounds come out. Maybe slightly racist if you want to get technical and militant, but I promise only in the name of fun and discovery.

I know that apparently, some American travelers put Canadian flags on their luggage or carry on then claiming they’re from Canada (the dead giveaway on debunking this is their passport, since how can you be “Canadian” when you have US citizenship unless you’re a dual citizen in possession of both nationalities) since some of them have hatred towards the US or feel ashamed of the country due to its internal affairs.

Ideally ones that provide RSS/Atom feeds. Currently, I’m following the BBC, CBC, The Guardian, DW, and Al Jazeera, and they provide reliable information, but there is always a bit of a bias. For instance, BBC and DW are quite pro-Israel, while Al Jazeera are rarely critical of the Qatari government. Are there any independent news outlets that have less of bias w/ RSS feeds?

Today, I washed my hands at the kitchen sink while making lunch, and was unexpectedly chastised by my partner because she had just started the dishwasher. Apparently, she has recently come across something that has convinced her that running the hot water in your sink means the water that enters your dishwasher will be hotter (checks out), and thus the dishes will be cleaner. I tried searching startpage to see if this is real, but I couldn’t make it through even one llm-slop-ticle about it before my eyes rolled back into my head, so here I am asking y’all: chat, is this real? Doesn’t my dishwasher have a heating element? Is there any meaningful difference between heating the water with a hot water heater vs a dishwasher, other than I can’t use my sink while the dishwasher is filling and I have to pour a bunch of cool water down the drain?

I was thinking a small treadmill, but I can just go outside most of the time, and I don’t really want to walk inside.

I mean, the act of people scalping stuff has existed before the digital age. Even a century ago: scalpers would pay a third party to hold a spot in line on purchasing concert or theater tickets to resell at a higher price since the internet didn’t exist back then. Like, in the 90s: scalpers showed up in person (paying someone to hold the spot for you whilst in line) for acquisition of the product, that’s how they’ve done it.

I heard a number of stories of people passing away, and their loved ones have to figure out how to navigate their digital “estate”. Things like email credentials, bank accounts, crypto wallets, logins for personal devices, etc. For example, I have a good friend whose husband passed away unexpectedly, and she couldn’t get Apple to unlock his laptop for months, until she provided a death certificate and jumped through additional hoops.

Thinking about switching cell providers and the new one is promising Netflix w/ads for free. I previously had HBO for free, which was great, and I am paying for Netflix w/out ads right now. So how does this work? Do I cancel my current Netflix and have to start a whole new account? Do I somehow link this cell provider to my account and THEY pay for the base account (w/ads)? Can I then upgrade?

Is anyone else thinking about going back to old school tactics of the ham radio. With the build up of fediverse, Meta, flock, Alphabet and now LG tv’s now spying on us in our own homes, getting a ham license and building one of these from scratch would not only gain some different kind of knowledge, but maybe if internet/cellular networks were to fail or get “taken over” there would be a backup system of communication. The old string and can trick only works with your neighbors. I know there is some serious ramifications if you don’t get licensed and tap into ham radio frequencies, and it doesn’t take much to get one… I don’t know if ‘tuning that dial” is dying out. Hello everyone! I saw that disabling JavaScript was good to prevent fingerprinting. However, something’s holding me up from doing so: since only a minority of the Internet users block it, won’t it make me more easy to identify?

US Dollars are printed with a single layer consisting of linen and cotton, which is easy for counterfeiters to exploit (like bleaching a $5 bill imprinting $100).

I prefer analogue clocks since they tend to be smaller in desk footprint and they are much easier to manually adjust (you need to do 20+ beeps on a digital alarm clock). They also just look kind of neat. I prefer if the clock ran on AA batteries (not AAA, and definitely nothing non-replaceable), and some sort of backlight would be ideal (but a good white/warm one, not a blinding blue/green light!
